Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Omron G3NA-240B?
The Omron G3NA-240B is a single-phase AC-output solid state relay designed for industrial load switching. It has a rated load current of 40 A and a rated load voltage range of 24 to 240 VAC.
What is the maximum load current?
The rated load current is 40 A at 40°C when used with an appropriate heat sink. Without a heat sink, the specified maximum load current is 6 A at 40°C. Actual allowable current also depends on ambient temperature and thermal installation conditions.
What is the load voltage range?
The rated load voltage is 24 to 240 VAC, and the operating load voltage range is 19 to 264 VAC.
What input control voltages are available?
The G3NA-240B family includes separate input versions for 5 to 24 VDC, 100 to 120 VAC and 200 to 240 VAC. These are different model variants. Check the complete model suffix and input marking before selecting a replacement.
Does the G3NA-240B support zero-cross switching?
Yes. The G3NA-240B AC-output model incorporates a zero-cross function. It switches the AC output near the zero-crossing point of the supply waveform.
Does the relay require a heat sink?
For operation near its 40 A rated load current, an appropriate heat sink is required. Without a heat sink, the specified load current is limited to 6 A at 40°C. Omron lists Y92B-N150 and Y92B-A150N as compatible heat sink options.
What is the maximum inrush current?
The manufacturer specifies an inrush current resistance of 440 A at 60 Hz for one cycle. Repetitive inrush conditions must be evaluated separately according to the manufacturer's surge-current characteristics.
What is the difference between G3NA-240B and G3NA-240B-UTU?
The standard G3NA-240B models are certified by UL and CSA. The -UTU designation identifies versions with additional TÜV certification. Confirm the complete model designation when matching equipment requirements.
What is the difference between the DC and AC input versions?
The DC input version accepts 5 to 24 VDC and uses phototriac isolation. The AC input versions accept either 100 to 120 VAC or 200 to 240 VAC and use photocoupler isolation. Their input electrical specifications are different, so they should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the control circuit.
Does the G3NA-240B have built-in surge protection?
Yes. The G3NA series incorporates a built-in varistor to help absorb external voltage surges. This feature supports protection against transient voltage disturbances.
What are the operating temperature limits?
The specified operating temperature range is -30°C to 80°C without icing or condensation. The storage temperature range is -30°C to 100°C.
What certifications does the G3NA-240B have?
Standard G3NA-240B models are certified by UL and CSA. The -UTU versions include TÜV certification. Verify the exact model variant and applicable certification requirements.
What should be checked before ordering G3NA-240B?
Confirm the complete input voltage version, 40 A rated load current, 24 to 240 VAC load voltage, heat sink requirements, screw-terminal configuration and mounting compatibility. The base designation G3NA-240B alone does not identify which control input voltage version is required.
