Frequently Asked Questions
What is NMB-MAT 4715MS-23T-B10?
NMB-MAT 4715MS-23T-B10 is an AC axial cooling fan from NMB Technologies. The documented full model is 4715MS-23T-B10-A00. It operates at a nominal 230 VAC, supports both 50Hz and 60Hz power frequencies and has a 119 × 119 × 38 mm frame, shaded-pole induction motor and ball bearings.
Is 4715MS-23T-B10 an AC or DC cooling fan?
It is an AC axial cooling fan. NMB specifies a nominal 230 VAC alternating-current supply. It is not a 12 VDC, 24 VDC or 48 VDC model and should not be used on a DC fan circuit or replaced with a DC fan merely because the mounting dimensions appear similar.
What are the voltage and frequency ratings?
The manufacturer specifies a nominal voltage of 230 VAC and operation at 50Hz and 60Hz. The documented starting voltage is 175 VAC. This is a starting characteristic rather than a recommended continuous supply rating. Use the manufacturer's nominal supply requirements and verify the installed equipment electrical system.
What are the dimensions and mounting-hole specifications?
The fan is nominally 119 mm wide, 119 mm high and 38 mm deep. The manufacturer series drawing identifies frame dimensions of 119.0 ±0.5 mm, depth of 38.0 ±0.5 mm, mounting-hole spacing of 105.0 ±0.3 mm and 4.3 mm mounting holes. The drawing also shows an M4 earth tap. Confirm the equipment's mounting hardware, wiring clearance and protective-grounding arrangement.
What is the current rating of 4715MS-23T-B10?
NMB's individual product pages specify 0.050 A at both 50Hz and 60Hz. The manufacturer's 11938MB series datasheet gives 0.050 A at 50Hz and 0.045 A at 60Hz, which is also the current rating shown in DigiKey's legacy product attributes. This difference should be recognized as a documentation precision difference unless additional engineering data establishes otherwise.
What is the input power at 50Hz and 60Hz?
The manufacturer specifies 6.5 W at 50Hz and 6.0 W at 60Hz, with a published input-power tolerance of +10% / -20%. Because this is an AC induction motor, the rated input power is not necessarily equal to the supply voltage multiplied by RMS current. Real power depends on the motor's power factor.
What is the fan speed of 4715MS-23T-B10?
The documented nominal fan speed is 1350 RPM at 50Hz and 1450 RPM at 60Hz. These values are lower than those of the related B20, B30, B40 and B50 performance classes, which have different airflow, current and acoustic characteristics. Use the full B10 model rather than substituting specifications from a faster version.
What are the maximum airflow and static pressure ratings?
NMB specifies 45.9 CFM maximum airflow at 50Hz and 49.4 CFM at 60Hz, equivalent to approximately 1.30 and 1.40 m³/min. The maximum static pressure is 14.7 Pa at both frequencies, equivalent to approximately 0.059 inches of water. Maximum airflow and maximum static pressure occur at different operating points of the fan performance curve and are not achieved simultaneously.
Why does the NMB 60Hz webpage show 0.59 in H₂O for static pressure?
The 60Hz manufacturer webpage lists 14.7 Pa alongside 0.59 inches of water. These are not equivalent values: 14.7 Pa converts to approximately 0.059 inches of water. The manufacturer series datasheet supports the approximately 0.06 in H₂O value. The product specification therefore uses 14.7 Pa and approximately 0.059 in H₂O rather than repeating the inconsistent webpage figure.
What are the noise, bearing and expected-life specifications?
NMB lists an acoustic noise rating of 27 dB at 50Hz and 28 dB at 60Hz. The fan uses ball bearings and has a manufacturer L10 expected life reference of 100,000 hours at 25°C. The L10 figure describes statistical reliability under defined conditions and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed service duration. Installed acoustic noise depends on mounting vibration, airflow restriction and enclosure geometry.
Does 4715MS-23T-B10 use electrical terminals or lead wires?
The standard 4715MS-23T-B10-A00 is documented with two electrical terminals. NMB's series datasheet specifies Faston #110 or equivalent terminals and identifies separately available lead-wire configurations using UL3266 AWG22 wire. The standard terminal arrangement does not provide a dedicated tachometer, locked-rotor signal or PWM control input. Confirm the actual assembly's connection type and protective grounding requirements before installation.
Is 4715MS-23T-B10 discontinued, and what is its replacement?
NMB identifies 4715MS-23T-B10-A00 as a legacy model not recommended for new designs, and DigiKey lists it as obsolete. The manufacturer recommends 11938MB-B3J-EA-00 as its updated designation. The related 4715MS-23T-B1A-A00 instead maps to 11938MB-B3J-EP-00 and should not be confused with B10-A00. Before ordering, verify the full model suffix, nominal 230 VAC voltage, 50/60Hz operation, starting voltage, current and input power, 119 × 119 × 38 mm frame, 105 mm mounting-hole spacing, two-terminal connection, earth provision, counterclockwise rotation viewed from the label side and airflow outlet toward the label side. The related 220VAC and 240VAC versions have different nominal voltage specifications and should not be assumed directly interchangeable.
