Key Features

12 A Current Rating

The Littelfuse KLDR-12 provides a 12 ampere current rating for appropriately specified industrial control circuits, control transformers and inductive electrical equipment. Its 12000 mA rating supports applications requiring Class CC time-delay overcurrent protection.

600 VAC and 300 VDC Ratings

Rated for compatible AC circuits up to 600 VAC and DC circuits up to 300 VDC. Separate AC and DC ratings support protective-device selection based on circuit operating voltage and available prospective short-circuit current.

Time-Delay Characteristics

The time-delay design accommodates temporary magnetizing inrush currents associated with control transformers, solenoids and similar inductive components. The applicable UL requirement specifies a minimum opening time of 12 seconds at 200% of rated current rather than a fixed clearing time.

High Interrupting Ratings

Provides a 200 kA RMS symmetrical AC interrupting rating at 600 VAC and a separate 20 kA DC interrupting rating at 300 VDC. Littelfuse identifies the DC interrupting rating as self-certified. The available prospective fault current must remain within the applicable interrupting capacity.

Current-Limiting Class CC Protection

The current-limiting construction helps reduce heating and magnetic effects during short-circuit events. Its rejection feature helps prevent installation of unsuitable fuses with lower voltage or interrupting ratings when used with compatible rejection-type fuse holders.

Compact Industrial Cartridge

Features a melamine body, nickel-plated bronze end caps and a nominal 10.3 x 38.1 mm cartridge format. Compatible mounting accessories include appropriately rated Littelfuse L60030C, LPSC/LFPSC, LEC and 571/572 fuse holder families.

Applications

  • Industrial control transformer protection
  • Solenoid circuit overcurrent protection
  • Inductive industrial control circuits
  • Industrial control panels requiring Class CC fuses
  • Compatible motor branch circuits with IEC motor controllers
  • Motor control circuits using suitable NEMA contactors
  • Compatible 600 VAC and 300 VDC control circuits
  • Exact-rating replacement in compatible Class CC fuse holders

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Littelfuse KLDR-12?
It is a 12 A Class CC time-delay, current-limiting cartridge fuse from the Littelfuse POWR-GARD KLDR series, designed for compatible control transformers, solenoids and industrial control applications.

What is the manufacturer catalog number?
The manufacturer catalog number is KLDR012. The product marking is KLDR 12A, and KLDR-12 is the corresponding current-rating designation.

What is the current rating?
The fuse is rated for 12 amperes, equivalent to 12000 milliamperes.

What are the AC and DC voltage ratings?
Littelfuse specifies 600 VAC and 300 VDC. The operating circuit voltage must remain within the applicable AC or DC rating.

What are the AC and DC interrupting ratings?
The AC interrupting rating is 200,000 amperes RMS symmetrical at 600 VAC. The DC interrupting rating is 20,000 amperes at 300 VDC and is identified by Littelfuse as self-certified.

Is KLDR-12 a time-delay or fast-acting fuse?
KLDR-12 is a time-delay fuse. The KLDR series is designed to accommodate temporary magnetizing inrush currents associated with control transformers, solenoids and similar inductive equipment.

Does KLDR-12 open in exactly 12 seconds at twice its rated current?
No. The applicable UL requirement specifies an opening time of at least 12 seconds at 200% of rated current. This is a minimum requirement rather than a fixed opening time. Consult the manufacturer's time-current curves for application-specific protection analysis.

What are the pre-arcing and total clearing I²t values?
Littelfuse specifies a pre-arcing I²t of 154.7 A²s and a total clearing I²t of 1,723 A²s. The total clearing value is published for the manufacturer's 200 kA test condition. These values apply specifically to KLDR012 and must not be substituted with those for the 10 A or 15 A models.

What are the physical dimensions?
The nominal cartridge dimensions are 10.3 mm in diameter and 38.1 mm in length, approximately 0.41 inch by 1.50 inches.

What materials and fuse holders are used?
The KLDR series uses a melamine body with nickel-plated bronze caps. Littelfuse identifies compatible holder families including L60030C, LPSC/LFPSC, LEC and 571/572. Confirm the electrical and mechanical compatibility of the selected holder before installation.

Is KLDR-12 UL listed and RoHS compliant?
Littelfuse identifies the KLDR series as UL Listed under file E81895 and CSA Certified under file LR29862 for the applicable AC ratings. The series is RoHS compliant, and the manufacturer's datasheet references a CE declaration. The DC interrupting rating is manufacturer self-certified.

What should be verified before ordering KLDR-12?
Confirm the KLDR-12 or KLDR012 designation, 12 A current rating, applicable 600 VAC or 300 VDC circuit requirement, AC or DC interrupting capacity, time-delay characteristics, Class CC fuse-holder compatibility and purchase quantity. Littelfuse lists KLDR012.TXP for a manufacturer 10-piece pack and KLDR012.HXP for a 100-piece pack; these ordering codes do not determine the quantity supplied by an individual store listing.
