Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Allen-Bradley 2080-LCD?
It is a Rockwell Automation 1.5-inch LCD display and keypad accessory designed specifically for Micro810 programmable controllers. It supports local status display, configuration and controller backup functions.
Which PLC controllers are compatible with the 2080-LCD?
Rockwell Automation specifies the 2080-LCD for Micro810 controllers only. Check the exact Micro810 catalog number and applicable controller documentation before installation.
Can the 2080-LCD be used with Micro820, Micro850 or Micro870 controllers?
No. The 2080-LCD is a Micro810-specific accessory. Other Micro800 controller families require their own supported display and communication arrangements.
What is the display size?
The module has a 1.5-inch LCD intended for local text-based monitoring and controller configuration.
Does the 2080-LCD include a keypad?
Yes. Its integrated keypad includes ESC, OK and directional navigation keys for accessing menus and interacting with compatible controller functions.
How do you access the Main Menu?
Press the ESC and OK buttons simultaneously. Use the directional keys to navigate the menu and select supported controller settings.
Can Smart Relay functions be configured without a programming computer?
Yes. The 2080-LCD supports configuration and adjustment of core Micro810 Smart Relay function blocks using its local interface.
Can the LCD display custom application messages?
Yes. Rockwell Automation provides compatible LCD Display instructions for presenting user-defined messages. The controller application must be programmed to supply the required display information.
Can a PLC program read keypad inputs?
Yes. Supported Micro810 keystroke-reading instructions allow a controller program to respond to keypad activity for suitable local operator-interface functions.
Does the 2080-LCD support program backup?
Yes. Rockwell Automation identifies the LCD module as an accessory that also functions as backup memory for Micro810 controllers. Backup and restoration operations must follow the applicable controller procedures.
Can restoring Smart Relay functions overwrite a controller program?
Yes. Rockwell Automation warns that restoring Smart Relay function blocks through the LCD can overwrite a program downloaded using supported programming software. Save the required project and verify the intended restoration procedure before proceeding.
Does the 2080-LCD require a separate power supply?
The module connects directly to the supported Micro810 controller. It is not a separately powered remote operator terminal.
How is the 2080-LCD installed?
Remove the Micro810 blank cover plate, align the LCD module with the controller connection and push it into position until the top and bottom latches engage fully.
Can the module be installed or removed while the controller is powered?
Rockwell Automation permits insertion or removal with controller power applied only in nonhazardous locations and under its specified conditions. Disconnect power in hazardous locations. Incomplete insertion or removal can cause the controller to fault.
What are the dimensions and weight?
The manufacturer specifies approximate dimensions of 64 × 45 × 18 mm and a module weight of 21 g.
What is the operating temperature range?
The specified operating range is -20 to +55°C, with a non-operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C. The surrounding air temperature must not exceed 55°C.
What is the difference between 2080-LCD and 2080-REMLCD?
The 2080-LCD is a compact 1.5-inch display that attaches directly to a Micro810 controller. The 2080-REMLCD is a different remote display product with a larger display and different controller, communication and installation requirements. They are not interchangeable.
Is the Allen-Bradley 2080-LCD discontinued?
Rockwell Automation currently identifies the 2080-LCD as an Active product. Review the manufacturer's catalog for lifecycle changes when planning maintenance or replacement.
What should be checked before ordering?
Confirm catalog number 2080-LCD, Micro810 controller compatibility, 1.5-inch LCD and keypad requirement, backup memory functionality, 64 × 45 × 18 mm dimensions, operating temperature, mounting arrangement and the distinction from 2080-REMLCD. For installation and configuration, consult Rockwell Automation publications 2080-WD009 and 2080-UM001.
