The KEYENCE LR-X250 provides a specified detecting distance from 30 to 250 mm for industrial object detection. Detection performance depends on target characteristics, sensor setup and the selected operating mode.
A visible green laser with a wavelength of 505 nm supports sensor alignment and object detection. The laser is classified as Class 1 under IEC 60825-1, and the spot size is approximately 0.8 × 1.2 mm at a distance of 250 mm.
The LR-X250 supports configurable NPN or PNP open collector switching with normally open or normally closed operation. Each control output is limited to 50 mA at 30 VDC or below.
Selectable response settings of 500 µs, 1 ms, 3 ms, 10 ms and 200 ms allow the sensor response to be adapted to the detection task. The fastest setting has specific calibration, output and interference-prevention limitations.
IO-Link V1.1 support with COM2 communication at 38.4 kbps enables integration with compatible IO-Link masters for device communication, parameter management and monitoring within industrial automation systems.
The LR-X250 incorporates a SUS316L stainless steel sensor head and is specified for IP65/IP67 protection under the manufacturer's installation conditions. Its operating temperature range is -10 to +50°C.

What is the KEYENCE LR-X250?
It is a KEYENCE LR-X series compact laser sensor with an integrated cable connection, a 30 to 250 mm detection range, configurable NPN/PNP outputs and IO-Link communication.
What is the detection range?
KEYENCE specifies a detection distance of 30 to 250 mm. The actual detectable object and minimum detectable deviation depend on the target, distance and sensor configuration.
Does LR-X250 use a red or green laser?
It uses a green laser with a wavelength of 505 nm. The device is classified as a Class 1 laser product under IEC 60825-1.
Is the sensor NPN or PNP?
Both NPN and PNP open collector output configurations are selectable. The switching logic can also be configured for normally open or normally closed operation.
What power supply does LR-X250 require?
The specified supply voltage is 16 to 30 VDC using a Class 2 supply, with maximum permitted ripple of 10% peak-to-peak.
What is the maximum switching output current?
Each configured control output is rated for 50 mA maximum at 30 VDC or below, with a maximum residual voltage of 2 V.
What response time settings are available?
The selectable response times are 500 µs, 1 ms, 3 ms, 10 ms and 200 ms. At 500 µs, calibration and output functions are restricted, so consult the manufacturer's instructions before using that setting.
Does LR-X250 support IO-Link?
Yes. The sensor supports IO-Link V1.1 with COM2 communication at 38.4 kbps and can be integrated with a compatible IO-Link master.
Does the LR-X250 use an M8 connector?
No. The LR-X250 is the standard cable-type model. The LR-X250C uses an M8 connector, while the LR-X250CG is a guarded-cable M8 connector variant.
What is its environmental protection rating?
The manufacturer specifies IP65/IP67 according to IEC 60529, with an ambient operating temperature range of -10 to +50°C. Proper wiring and installation are required.
Can this sensor measure precise displacement?
The LR-X250 is intended for laser-based detection rather than high-precision dimensional measurement. Its display resolution is 1 to 2 mm, and its specified standard detectable deviation varies with the detection distance. Use a dedicated measurement sensor when tighter dimensional accuracy is required.
What should be checked before ordering?
Confirm the exact model LR-X250, standard cable-type connection, 30–250 mm detecting distance, 16–30 VDC supply, selectable NPN/PNP output, IO-Link compatibility, response-time settings, and environmental requirements to ensure full compatibility with your operating equipment.
